Focal has developed a ruggedized, cost effective camera that scans your shelves hourly, allowing you to know exactly what is on your shelf. We have 4 types.

These are wifi, battery powered cameras that click into your shelf seamlessly. One camera covers about 8 feet of linear shelf. A typical 30k sqft store would require about 400 cameras. Installation is a breeze. Focal can install all of these cameras with 2 people in one night. All of these cameras combined use less bandwidth than a single standard IP Security Camera so network strain is never a concern. The battery lasts for 2 years on average, but not to worry, Focal will handle all maintenance and upkeep of the cameras.
Focal’s AI runs on each image to detect instocks, out of stocks, lows, POG Non-compliance, spoiled produce, and much more. This information forms the basis of all downstream systems that permit Focal to “drive your store”.

Focal has developed the most accurate Deep Learning Computer Vision models in the retail industry, trained on over 1.4 billion labeled images captured from retailers around the globe from over one hundred thousand deployed cameras. First, these AI models scrub the images of all PII (Personally Identifiable Information) so no customer or employee image data is ever retained or tracked. Then, these AI models accurately detect ins, outs, lows, planogram non-compliance, restock events, and spoiled produce hourly. This data is fed downstream to all other applications to “drive the store” for you. If the AI detects an out of stock and inventory in the backroom, FocalOS adds the product to the picklist in Stocker Action Tool in order of Lost Sales. If no backstock, FocalOS orders more product. All restock events are tallied up per associate, so you can track productivity automatically.

This feed Focal’s Stocker Action Tool which rank-sorts the outs by lost sales to ensure your team is always working the most important outs first. Once the stockers work the out, FocalOS validates that the work was done correctly and provides feedback automatically if the work was not done correctly. This dramatically improves stocker productivity.
Focal AdaPOG leverages historical shelf digitization to adapt planograms on a per store basis
Focal detects “chronic outs” or SKUs that have less than 3 days holding capacity and make per store recommendations to increase facings in those SKUs and decrease facings on over-allocated SKUs to reduce outs, increase sales, and actually save labor.
